ABOUT DJ MIKE TORRES

Biography

DJ Mike Torres, born and raised in Brooklyn, NY is a well-versed open-format DJ with over 35 years of experience. A Native New Yorker with Puerto Rican roots, he was raised listening to Salsa, Disco, Motown, and Funk. As a son of a Latin percussionist, he learned the sound of the drum at an early age!! Eventually, he branched out into other genres in his teenage years such as Rock, Reggae, Hip-Hop, House, Freestyle, and Caribbean Vibes. Recording and making his own mixtapes of the Saturday Night Dance Party on 92.3 KTU with Glenn Friscia and Roman Ricardo or 98.7 Kiss FM with DJ Red Alert, his passion for DJing grew. His first set of turntables in 1989 was a pair of Gemini XL-BD10s. As he got older, branching out and evolving technologies inspired him to move vinyl (still maintains collection) to Serato. DJ AM, one of his biggest idols, pushed DJ Mike Torres to want to become an open-format DJ.


Today, DJ Mike Torres has played in various venues in both private and club settings in and around NYC. He currently works independently on mobile and club events and is also a member of Senate DJs and BlendJunkies Entertainment.

DJ Mike Torres is putting his mark in music production, as well as, being co-owner of a new online radio station. He has worked on remixes for several artists from past to present.

Power 78.7 - Former co-owner of the NYC-based internet radio station dedicated to the sounds of Freestyle and Dance Classics! The intention of the station is to bring you the legendary sound from some of your favorite clubs from around the world. Power 78.7 brings back those electric memories that make you feel good!

PowerStar Radio - Hosted a weekly show The Fusion that focused on Old School and New School Freestyle along with some Old School Classics. The show was on Tuesdays at 7PM.
